Embroidery Technique: Kogin with Alana Wegner
Thursday, 22 August @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
Class is open to embroiderers of all skill levels.
This one-day class is designed to be an initial journey into Kogin Embroidery, a Japanese technique from the prefecture of Aomori, northern Honshu.
Kogin was developed by the peasant classes and worked onto clothing to add durability and warmth in the harsh conditions. The technique is based on closely spaced parallel rows of running stitch (pattern darning).
Students will commence embroidering a panel (Approx 30cm x 30cm) which may be used as a panel on a tote bag, a table-centre, or a placemat, as in the example (25cm X 25cm). Some additional embroidery and sewing will be required after the class.
No preparation work is required prior to this class.
Class code: AW2208
Class cost: $60.00 members; $80.00 non-members
Kit cost: $25.00 – Please include the kit cost with the class payment.
Participants will receive a Requirements List when they register.
