Cretan Embroidery Workshop

The embroidery of Crete has a rich tradition, using surface stitches and often used silk threads to make wide borders that are found at the hem of Cretan skirts. At this two-day workshop, the student will learn the traditional stitches used in Cretan embroidery, stitching with DMC stranded cottons on a natural coloured Strathaven linen. Kogin Embroidery

This class has a choice of a beginner’s level bag  or an intermediate level bag. Kogin embroidery originated in the north of Japan’s main island in the Aomori prefecture. Due to its rugged geography, bitter winters and impassable roads, this area was isolated for a long time from much of Japan’s mainstream culture. Hems and Hemstitching Class

In this class, you will learn how to perfect wide and narrow mitred hems, and a variety of hem stitches to complete embroidery with charm. As a bonus, you will be given a weekend project kit. This kit allows you to practise the stitches learnt in class and to make up a little needle roll from a sampler of stitches to keep. Children’s Holiday Class

This is a 2-day class, on Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th September, which continues the Queensland theme.  You can  make a tote bag themed with either a Budgie or a Budgie Smuggler, inspired by a bird of the Outback. Exploring More Needlepoint

  This class, provided over two consecutive Saturdays, takes participants on a journey through various needlepoint techniques.  A sound knowledge of basic embroidery terms will be an advantage and some preparation is required prior to the first Saturday. Exploring More Stitches

This class is an extension of the Embroidery Basics class offered to new members and part of the Guild’s Essential Embroidery Skills course.
