Blackwork hussif with Alison Snepp

Blackwork is a rewarding and pleasant form of counted thread embroidery. Students in this two-day weekend class will explore several blackwork techniques and the stitches used. Examples will be given by studying blackwork through history. Then students will apply the lessons to a hussif that has been designed especially for the workshop and will incorporate silk threads, Jap gold and tiny sequins. Discovering Needlepoint

Various techniques and stitches utilised in Needlepoint will be covered in this two-day class on Sunday 14th May and Sunday 21st May 2017. A choice of size of samplers will be provided, with more than 10 stitches covered over two days. Several options for the use of this sampler are examined. Schwalm whitework – “Hidden delights”

"Hidden Delights" features many traditional techniques used in Schwalm embroidery with a central heart hiding a bird settled amidst flowers, stems and leaves. This linen table centre is finished with a hemmed Schwalm peahole edge. Schwalm whitework embroidery is a regional embroidery originating in the Hesse area along the Schwalm River in Germany.
