Start Stitching Classes

COVID-19 Update

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the necessary controls and conditions to minimise the likelihood, spread and consequences of COVID-19 infections and transmission, we  cancelled the Start Stitching classes after March 2020, but hope to re-commence some time in the reasonably near future.

With social distancing as one of the necessary controls, it is difficult to conduct these classes in the same manner as the past. We are fortunate to have the classroom space but the need for proximity of the volunteers to the student makes social distancing difficult. We are working through ways to allow a new class format.

Although these classes have been cancelled, we are designing a fabulous set of projects to tempt you when we are finally able to offer classes again.  For further information please contact:   info@embroiderersguildqld.org.au

The following information on Start Stitching Classes gives some examples of previous class projects and an idea of how these fun classes operated before COVID-19 times.

Do you want to embroider but are not sure how to start?  Would you like to improve your stitching and learn new techniques? These classes are for you.

What are they?  Regular classes run by the Guild in a relaxed and friendly environment to help you develop stitching skills at your own pace.  And make something nice!

Who can come? Anyone aged 18 and over who wants to learn to stitch.

What will I be doing? Easy, fun projects designed to be completed—or nearly so—during a class session, whilst learning stitching skills at your own pace.

My tutors? Members of the Guild.

Where are classes held? In the upstairs teaching room of the Guild building.   This heritage-listed building is located at 149 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. The front door should be open – but there is a bell.

When? Monthly on a Saturday from 1–4 pm. Please arrive at 12.30pm to sign in.

How do I register? Complete the Class Registration Form  and forward it no later than 1 week before the class date. Timing is critical to manage class numbers and allow kits to be prepared.

Cost? $30 per class (includes all-inclusive stitching kit and afternoon tea). Prior payment is preferred, via EFT or posted bank cheque/money order.   Cash payment (only) can be made on the day of the class.
