Introduction to Shadow Work – a Lavender Sachet with Nicole Detering

This project provides a basic introduction to Shadow Work. From the front, shadow work appears as backstitch outlining a muted shade of the same colour.

Due to its delicate almost whimsical quality, historically this technique was used for the finest of lingerie, linens and baby clothes.

it is a very easy technique to master and execute as it simply relies on an understanding of double backstitch vs. herringbone stitch.
