Start Stitching – Embroidered needlework bag

Everyone aged over 18 is welcome – beginners or experienced embroiderers alike. You don’t have to be a Guild member. This project is fun with Guild members there to help you and provide a way of developing your enjoyment of embroidery in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Embroidered needlework bag – a field of flowers
This 4-sided bag will be embroidered and constructed over a series of 5 classes held on the following Sundays between 1pm and 4pm. Please arrive at 12.30pm to sign in. Attendance on 21 August (Class 1) is essential in order to attend the following 4 classes:

Side 1 – pretty field flowers … soft and flowing
Class 2
11 September 2022
Side 2 – flower maze … flowers randomly arranged
Class 3
9 October 2022
Side 3 – embroidery tools … cotton reels, pins and buttons
Class 4
13 November 2022
Side 4 – this side has been left blank so that you can decide which design you would like for the 4th side. You could use any of the previous classes or your own ideas. We will help you transfer the design and guide you with stitch and colour selections. A great way to learn how to get a design onto fabric.
Class 5
11 December 2022 or 29 January 2023
Let us help you put the bag together! In this class, you will be given guidance with construction of the bag and lining. Your kit contains the lining and will be ready to stitch.

Bookings
Bookings are essential and classes must be paid in advance, as our numbers are limited to 10 students to ensure social distancing is practised. There is a booking cut-off date. Payment is by EFT and no cash payments on the day. Please include the Class code. Download and complete the Class Registration Form from the Guild’s website and forward to: classes@embroiderersguildqld.org.au

How to get there
Brunswick Street train station is a 5-minute walk away. Bus routes 370, 375 and 379 leave Stop 17 in Adelaide Street – get off at Stop 5 – outside the Guild building. Phone Translink on 13 12 30 for Sunday details. Parking is available in Warry, Kennigo and Love streets (behind the Guild) and is free on Sundays.
