World Embroidery Day

World Embroidery Day was first celebrated in 2011, in Vismarlőv, Sweden. It was spearheaded by a local group of Broderiakademin (Sweden’s Embroidery Guild), which took the initiative to plan and create a special day to celebrate embroidery. That day, now called World Embroidery Day, is 30 July. The Embroiderers’ Guild, Queensland will celebrate it this year on 28 July. Crewel Work – Australian wildflowers – Day 1

  This is a two-day class to be held on Saturday 3 August (Day 1) and Saturday 24 August (Day 2).  Students will work traditional crewel stiches on linen. Ribbonwork Ort bag

This lovely gathered fabric Ort bag has a dual role for holding snips of threads and, in addition, a padded area to use as a pincushion.  Students will stitch four floral motifs in silk ribbon.
