DESCRIPTION:This 2-day class will be held on Saturday 20 March and Sunday 21 March\, 2021.  \nAn “Illustrated Floral” stumpwork project class with Alison Cole\, covering two padding techniques and creating detached elements using a range of techniques.This design is based on an illuminated Book of Hours in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria and is worked on black satin using Cascade House silk threads. SUMMARY:Hardanger Bon Bon Pincushion
DESCRIPTION:This 2-day class will be held on Sunday 9 May and Sunday 16 May\, 2021.  It is designed to be an initial journey into Hardanger Embroidery encompassing some counted thread embroidery techniques from Norway. Hardanger Embroidery is traditionally a white on white embroidery which features on aprons and shirts worn as part of traditional folk costumes.  \nAttendance on 9 May (Day 1) is essential in order to attend Day 2 on 16 May 2021 \nStudents will explore basic techniques – such as preparation gridding\, satin stitch including kloster blocks\, eyelets and cable stitch. On the second day\, students will delve into needleweaving including woven bars and dove’s eyes. Students will gain the knowledge to interpret and adapt commercial patterns. \nThe class is designed for those who have not previously undertaken any hardanger embroidery. Knowledge of basic embroidery terms and an appreciation of counted thread embroidery will be an advantage. \nStudents will complete the embroidery for a pincushion (17cm x 6cm) but there is some additional sewing required to complete the item. SUMMARY:Greek Style Reticella

DESCRIPTION:Hardanger Embroidery from Norway is a tone-on-tone embroidery featuring open cut and drawn work which is often referred to as Hardanger Lace. DESCRIPTION: \nThis 2-day workshop will be held on Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August\, 2021.  \nThe fine art of Traditional Japanese Bead Embroidery involves the incorporation of beads into designs using traditional techniques and principles of Silk Embroidery.
