Thread Painting – Gum leaves with blossoms
April 4 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
Thread painting, needle painting or silk shading is a way to embroider a picture which has the same qualities of a painting. It is the combination of long and short stitches and the smooth transition between colours which achieves a soft shaded effect -ultimately a beautiful work of art. To achieve the soft shaded effect, a single strand of embroidery floss is used with the right choice of colours and learning the angle in which to come through the fabric and the previous stitches, achieves a smooth effect.
In this beginner’s workshop, students will be stitching one leaf and the easier of the blossoms. Students will be provided with the full pattern for completion by the student after the class.
$60 for members; $80 for non-members
