Ottoman Metal Thread Embroidery Workshop
May 19 @ 9:30 am - May 20 @ 3:00 pm
While Alison was in Turkey, at the end of 2015, she was fortunate to find some silver broad plate thread still occasionally used for metal thread embroidery. The style of embroidery is that used in the Ottoman Empire.
This two-day embroidery workshop covers counted thread techniques using traditional Ottoman stitches (the project is not cross stitch). It uses Au Ver à Soie d’Alger silk thread highlighted with the silver broad plate. The fabric is 28-count soft (undressed) linen. This small piece is a pocket book (embroidery size 37cm x 15cm and 10.5cm x 15cm when folded up).
There is no preparation to be done prior to the workshop as the workshop folio includes the prepared 28-count linen and the silver broad plate for the embroidery.
