SUMMARY:Marquise Medley - Day 2
DESCRIPTION: \nThis is the 2nd day of the class started on Tuesday 8 October (Day 1) and will focus on stitching a sampler\, which covers a medley of several counted thread embroidery styles. Attendance at Day 1 is essential in order to attend Day 2. \nThe sampler will highlight techniques often attributed to northern and eastern European countries.  A wide central band of needleweaving is the focus of the piece\, with kloster block flowers and motif\, a pulled thread motif and even a needlepoint pattern. The design is an adaptation of a design in Hetsie van Wyk’s book\, Embroider Now. \nSome preparation work is required prior to this 2-day class\, consequently\, students will need to have knowledge of counted thread embroidery including tacking a grid onto the fabric and working kloster blocks in preparation for cutting.  Alana chose to frame this piece\, but it would also make an attractive pillow. \nTutor\nAlana Wegner \nFor more information\, contact the Class Registrar by phoning 3252 8629 or emailing classes@embroiderersguildqld.org.au \n
