Marquise Medley – Day 1
October 8 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
This is a two-day class to be held on Tuesday 8 October (Day 1) and Tuesday 29 October (Day 2) and will focus on stitching a sampler, which covers a medley of several counted thread embroidery styles.
The sampler will highlight techniques often attributed to northern and eastern European countries. A wide central band of needleweaving is the focus of the piece, with kloster block flowers and motif, a pulled thread motif and even a needlepoint pattern. The design is an adaptation of a design in Hetsie van Wyk’s book, Embroider Now.
Some preparation work is required prior to this 2-day class, consequently, students will need to have knowledge of counted thread embroidery including tacking a grid onto the fabric and working kloster blocks in preparation for cutting. Alana chose to frame this piece, but it would also make an attractive pillow.
$120.00 members; $160.00 non-members
No kit is provided. Upon registration, the Class Registrar will provide a list of requirements, which need to be obtained prior to the class. Some preparation needs to be undertaken before the day of the class.
These cost $9, payable to the Tutor at the commencement of class.
