SUMMARY:Discovering Hardanger - Day 1
DESCRIPTION: \nThis is a two-day class to be held on Saturday 16 March (Day 1) and Saturday 30 March (Day 2). \nStudents will focus on the various basic techniques used in Hardanger Embroidery – such as gridding preparation\, satin stitch\, kloster blocks and buttonhole edging. On the second day\, students will delve into needleweaving including woven bars and dove’s eyes. Students will gain the knowledge to interpret and adapt commercial patterns. \nThe class is designed for those who have not undertaken any Hardanger embroidery but knowledge of basic embroidery terms and an appreciation of counted thread embroidery will be an advantage. \nStudents will complete a small pillow which could be attached to a scarf cuff but would be equally attractive as a scissor fob. \nTutor\nAlana Wegner \nClass code\nAW16/03 \nClass cost \n$120 (members); $160 (non-members) \nClass kit\n$15 for a kit (includes evenweave linen\, threads and preparation instructions)\, which will be available from the tutor on the first day.  The scarf cuff will be an additional $2. \nStudent requirements\nEach student will need to have the following supplies: \n\na small hoop 10cm or 4” (your thumb must be able to comfortably reach the centre of the hoop);\nsmall piece of plain backing fabric (15cm x 15cm)\, to complete the scarf cuff;\nsmall sharp pointed embroidery scissors; and\nnotebook and pencil for taking notes.\n\nIf you wish to bring your magnifier or light\, please do so\, but check with the Class Registrar regarding power requirements. \nClass registration and enquiries\nBookings are essential\, with a cut-off date of 8 March.  Please complete the Class Registration Form on the website.\nContact the Class Registrar by emailing classes@embroiderersguildqld.org.au or phone 3252 8629. \n
