Ukrainian Square Pincushion

October 9 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

The people of the Ukraine have a long tradition of heavily decorating their clothing, for both males and females, with embroidery. Designs can be geometric or free form, whitework or brightly coloured, often with black to accentuate the colours. Many techniques are used, and this square pincushion class is designed to take the participant on a journey through some of those counted thread techniques – including flat stitch, Tovmach stars, round eyelets and laid cross stitch. There is no cutwork in this project.

The finished size is approximately 9 cm x 9 cm and worked using white linen fabric with a count of 30 threads per inch (supplied in the kit).

This pincushion features traditional whitework highlighted by colourful stars. Students will be able to choose from 2 colour combinations, solid or pastel. Additional requirements will be sent to you before the class.

No preparation work is required prior to this relaxed class. Students will need to have some knowledge and appreciation of counted thread embroidery.
