Mountmellick table centre with Deborah Love
Date: 10 March 2012

Mountmellick embroidery is a heavy and robust style of white work used traditionally in Ireland for bedspreads, table mats, cushion covers and other domestic objects. It is characterised by contrast - matt cotton thread on smooth cotton satin fabric, smooth satin stitch against padded and knotted stitches. In this class, you will learn many of the typical Mountmellick stitches including a variation of buttonhole edging. The design can be worked as a table centre, hand towel or bag.
