To ensure that a finished embroidery is mounted correctly for framing
at reasonable cost, it is very useful if we can do it ourselves. This
course teaches how to lace works on to the supporting base rather than
doing it using staples, tape or glue which not only can stain or
discolour the fabric but also can fail to keep the embroidery at an
even tension.
Mounted works need not necessarily be framed. Students will learn how
to do both single and double mounts which can be hung after being
lined on back.
Information on acid-free materials is also covered.
This class provides the basic skills needed for classes constructing boxes, book covers, needlecases and round containers.
