Exploring Stitches with Carolyn Foley

An exploration of a variety of stitches, some well known, others not, and how to apply them in different ways, such as using different threads to achieve different effects and sewing in circles and curves as well as straight lines. This is combined with design principles so students can create their own designs using their own choice of colours. Stitches that may be used include Stem, Chain, French Knot, Bullion, Seed Stitch, Hedebo Edge, Knotted Button hole, Triple Chain Stitch, Siennese Stitch, Chained Cross Stitch, Knotted Loop Stitch, Rope Stitch and Sword Stitch.
