Chinese Embroidery -
"Su" Style
Threadpainting with Margaret Lee
Workshop dates: 7, 8, 9 September 2012
The type of Chinese embroidery which Margaret will teach is the “Su style,” one of the four famous styles associated with Chinese embroidery and the one most recognized today.
Su style of embroidery has a tradition dating back thousands of years and was the choice for wall decorations and royal wardrobes at various times in Chinese history.
It is well known for its elegance and delicate needlework techniques; and is the epitome of ‘painting’ with silk thread.
The class is open to all skill levels and is particularly suited to people who have a liking for fine work and working with silk and who enjoy thread painting. With experience, it offers considerable creative flexibility
There is a choice of projects – the Cymbidium Orchid is appropriate for a beginner in this technique while the Orchid and Butterfly offers extra challenges for those with appropriate experience.
The kit includes the silk fabric with design printed on in colour, silk threads, needles, lacing threads and instructions. Please note your choice of design on your Class Registration Form.
